Building for altitude: climate-responsive design in Bhutan

Bhutan's altitude means large diurnal swings and intense solar gain. Orientation, thermal mass and window-to-wall ratios matter more than any bolt-on technology.

We favour compact plans, insulated envelopes and Rabsey windows sized for winter sun. Where possible, we detail overhangs that shade the summer arc while admitting low winter light.
